Inside-Kardamena: About Us

About Us

How It Started

Inside-Kardamena was first created in winter 2006 on a day Honcho was skiving from work. While trying to come up with a decent excuse to get the missus to let him go to Kos on a free pass, the idea of making a website and doing some 'research' came to mind.

So it came to pass that Honcho and Super Mario flew out to Kos in the first week of season 2006 and partied with all the workers and got drunk on Mythos for a week. They did however make a brief attempt at doing some work. Mario's unique direction finding abilities came to good use, instead of finding their way back to their accomodation after a ouzo filled evening he used them to help put together the first comprehensive street level map of the village. Honcho also signed up businesses to the Discount Band scheme, took photos, blagged free food and drinks and got a tattoo. Mario mainly got pissed.

In October the same year, Honcho took his brother 'Feeney' over on another free pass. Feeney, blessed by skills of camera, became the website's official photographer. He also got pissed.

The Various States of Inside-Kardamena

2006 - Inside-Kardamena was registered with a co.uk domain - It looked like this.

2007 - More pages and interactivity added. As 'Web 2.0' ramped up, users wanted to add content to the site and interact. Users of the website could now leave their own reviews live on the site without submitting them using a form and Honcho having to add each one via coding it into the site (which rarely happened 'cos he's lazy). - It looked like this.

2008 - Revamped. The familier white and blue site changed to a wider screen sandy yellow and white colour. Honcho never really liked this but the larger screen area allowed users to make the most of widescreen monitors and laptops which were becoming popular. - It looked like this.

2009 - Nothing was changed on the site. Honcho became side-tracked by other projects and a lack of coinage resulted in zero trips to Kos.

2010 - Honcho considers selling the site but knowing that he'll miss it, buys the .com version and brings the old info over into a new format. Now hosted on Google's blogger, the site allows users to join, add reviews, comments ect and adds old favourites like the webcams and new developments like the shipping satellite. Still skint, and now expecting a child, Honcho misses out on Kos again.
